Democracy 3 App Reviews

Read entire review. This game is so awful, they should be charging people to test it. It claims it has this realistic modeling, but the basic concept is you are always go to make someone mad, and a group will most likely assassinate you. Good luck trying to get away with conservative views, much less libertarian ones. This game is so far from releaseable it is disgusting. DO. NOT. BUY. Worth approximately -$24.99 EDIT: Ok so this app still lacks a ton of features, but after messing with some settings (mainly the setting that allows limited moves per turn) this is incredibly fun. That feature obviousily adds to the difficulty, but I think that main point is to expand political diversity. I’m Ron Swanson Libertarian, and this has showed me that there are appropriate uses for government funding, and that there is more to life than the free market. I think the same would go for other political views. I think it just aims to show that there needs to be compromise in order for a country to exceed. That being said I balenced the budget first but regardless this is an amazing teaching tool. New worth: -$4.99

but I would like to see more frequent updates containing new functions: - more scenarios during governing - possibility of wars - much stronger integration of the different media - natural disasters (earthquake etc. never happens!!!) But all in all I really like this game and recommend it to anyone who is interested in politics.

I can’t say that I hate because I guess I’m not the normal “complex thinking” kind of “geek” that would play a game like this. I’m sure it’s an amazing game once you “read into it” but for a beginner like me it will still take it’s weeks, months, years…! That being said, this being a good game for beginners or bad game for experts, I think that $25 is very high for a game that is very diverse in it’s core but super simple in it’s design. You decide for yourself if $25 is worth no action whatsoever but a brain-storm that only sudoku-like games offer.

While the game is a bit complex, it is certainly is not overly difficult for an adult or politically-aware teen. It took me about 20 minutes to get through the tutorial and begin playing. It is fascinating and helps you see how political leaders make decisions to keep them high in the polls rather than necessairly for what they think is in the best interest of the nation. I could spend a lot of time at this game since there are limitless combinations and choices. I just survived an assassination attempt so let me get back to running my country. I highly recommend!

I’ve played 10 hours and my wife has invested 5+ and we’re both really loving it! We have interests in government and econcomics, so this game helps correlate the two quite simply. The challenge that’s unlike any other game is that the circumstances are forever changing, no two times are alike. Compete mastery is nearly impossible, unless you put it on easier levels of difficulty. It’s quite addictive!

So I tried playing this game as the American president with a moderately socially progressive national policy. Within a few turns I was assasinated by ethnic minorities. The next time around I sharpened that focus to specifically address issues influencing racial tension. Within a few turns I was assassinated again by racial minorities. So . . . we’ve had a variety of useless presidents who specifically exacerbated racial tensions with borderline criminal policies and they were not assassinated by ethnic minorities. I’m thinking your simulation engine has some problems. Low grade stuff like this just kills me on a game. I may try it again eventually, but for now I’m thinking that I just threw away 25 bucks. What a waste.

First of all, the game is definitely not worth the price tag. Second, this game is very political and does dive into a lot of issues that mainly focus on domestic public policy. If you are a fan of politics such as myself this game might be worth mentioning. However, the game developers were definitely biased when creating this game. If you are just a tiny bit conservative/libertarian/small government leaning you are going to get assasinated by ethnic groups or not get any votes in your election (if you manage to survive which is nearly impossible). My advice, don’t get it. Complete waste.

My only major concern is that the assassinations are ridiculous. I was within 4 turns of my first election, had a popularity level of about 65-67% and a growing number of conservatives going to vote. What happened? I was assassinated by a gri=oup called "Black Power”. This is the 2nd time I was assassinated by the same group. Charging $25 on a game that is semi realistic (with the exception of the assassinations) is such a waste of money.
